The idle Britt is a playboy that parties all the time with women and hates his father but he is forced to become the new publisher. He also meets his father's mechanic Kato, who is a skilled fighter of kung fu, and they decide to fight crime for fun wearing masks. Britt uses "The Daily Sentinel" to promote "The Green Hornet" and his sidekick, attracting the attention of the kingpin Chudnofsky, Now the Green Hornet is chased not only by the police, but also by Chudnofsky that is hunting him down.
Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.
Going into this, I wasn't sure how 'Michel Gondry' it was going to be- wasn't sure if he would make a more 'traditional' movie to tell a serious, dramatic Green Hornet story- or if he would utilize his artful talent of creating interesting/stylized camera angles and scenes made so famous by Eternal Sunshine, Be Kind Rewind, and various other films- including his music videos for the White Stripes, etc. Luckily Gondry stays true to his signature style and creates thrilling visuals and very exciting and fun to watch fight scenes. And it isn't just the fight scenes, there are many other segments of eye candy for cinephiles like myself who appreciate both story and how the camera tells the story. I was impressed, the movie was much better than expected with a lot of laughs and a lot of thrilling action with a pretty decent story. I was concerned that I would be disappointed with Rogen but wasn't in the least!
It has an interesting idea, a different take on the &quot;masked hero/vigilante&quot; theme. He&#39;s rich, but goes into the &quot;hero business&quot; out of boredom, rather than some higher purpose. He is not remarkable in any way, but has some success, mostly by way of his capable sidekick and smart (and very hot) secretary. He does good by doing bad and it kind of works.<br/><br/>But, it&#39;s not fully realized/developed. His Chineese sidekick is difficult to understand most of the time. Cameron Diaz has a role which is not really explored, at least not to the extent others are. We never get why this smart, hot and capable woman, who is not young any more, wants to be a secretary. Even the jokes about her age don&#39;t work out. Cristoph Waltz&#39;s characters starts great, but at the end becomes silly and shallow.<br/><br/>It is fun, but not very much so and not all the time. It is funny only sometimes - too little, since the the movie is silly, so there is no wisdom on insight to be gained here.<br/><br/>It&#39;s an OK watch, but it leaves one with a feeling it could have been much more.
While this latest Rogen-penned iteration is a game try, it feels a bit like he's trying to make a volume out of a footnote.

By night he is a masked hero, fighting crime with his sidekick, Kato, who has incredible martial-arts skills. Rogen, whose film projects to date have been primarily comedic in nature, said that the forthcoming update will evoke other action films that feature an undercurrent of humor. &quot;I&#39;ve seen the early &#39;Indiana Jones&#39; movies in theaters, and they kill,&quot; Rogen said. &quot;There&#39;s laughs throughout the whole thing, and it doesn&#39;t feel like a comedy per se. It just feels like something that&#39;s trying to solicit reactions from the audience, and we think of movies like &#39;True Lies&#39; and stuff like that. That&#39;s more kind of what we&#39;re going for with this.&quot; Director Michel Gondry also has said this about the film&#39;s tone: &quot;It&#39;s an action movie with some comedy in it. The action will be fast and furious and the comedy will come from the dynamic between Kato and Britt Reid.&quot; Reportedly, he stepped down to work on a superhero spoof comedy starring Jack Black. It&#39;s called &quot;Live With Me&quot; by the Rolling Stones.
